DIGITAL GOVERNANCE TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP
The Digital Governance thematic area within Malawi’s National Action Plan is focused on implementing interventions that accelerate the adoption of digital governance in government and use of ICT among Malawians. Citizen utilization of ICT in this regard is specific to increasing citizens access to information to make service delivery transparent, responsive, and accountable

The main commitment seeks to address the problem of under development and underutilization of digital and electronic facilities for delivering services in the Government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Particularly challenges that exacerbate the problem due to
a)  Manual processes for service delivery.

b) Existing cyber security risks to government data due to the use of personal web-based email systems.

c) Limited information sharing and interoperability of systems across MDAs.

d) High cost of digital gadgets and data which limit ICT uptake and penetration

The interventions identified to address the challenges are,
a) Enhance government’s capacity to utilise ICT in service delivery.

b) Ensure ongoing alignment of strategies to the National Digitalisation Policy.

c) Lobby Cabinet to review, approve and operationalize the National Digitalization Policy.
